Kew Gardens
Kew Gardens is a station with a lot of history and is the first point of contact with the world renowned Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew for thousands of tourists every day. The garden at the station is taken care of by Energy Garden in partnership with the Kew Society, a local charity that protects and enhances the natural and built environment in the local area.
We began working at this station in 2015; working with Kew Society, TfL and Kew Gardens; creating a collaborative garden design, accessing the previously overgrown garden space on the platforms, and planting over 1500 perennials. This garden comprises of four large beds, two on either platform, each with their own themes and planting plans. We have the woodland bed, a grassland bed and the wildflower meadow; all comprising of a variety of native species that provide colour and structure to the garden all year round. We work alongside the Kew Society to manage these beds throughout all stages of the growing season to ensure the garden looks healthy and maintained.
We are always looking for more local residents to join Energy Garden and Kew Society at the station. Come join us and get involved in caring for this beautiful garden; Its a great opportunity to get your hands dirty and learn about gardening from our skilled volunteers. We run regular gardening sessions at the station every Wednesday from 9am-12pm. Email callum@energygarden.org.uk to get involved.
