Volunteer Guidelines

Welcome to Energy Garden and thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with us! We really hope you have an enjoyable experience in our gardens. There are a just a few things we would like you to be aware of before you start working on one of our sites. 

  • Please keep your hi-vis jacket on at all times during the session.

  • Please sign-in to the station’s visitor log with your name and phone number. This is necessary to contact you in case of emergency.

  • Please ensure you always stay 2 metres from the trackside yellow line.

  • Unfortunately, due to station rules, no dogs are allowed at any of our volunteer sessions.

  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied at all times by their parent or carer during volunteer sessions.

What to expect at each session:

  • You will be provided with a site-specific safety briefing by Energy Garden staff that must be read and understood before you commence any activities  

  • The Station Supervisor will also give you a verbal health and safety briefing at the start of the session.

  • Before undertaking any task involving tools, Energy Garden staff will provide you with the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • At the beginning of each session, Energy Garden staff will also conduct an on-the-spot visual Risk Assessment to ensure that any changes on the station or any specific risks have been identified and communicated to you.

Insurance:

Whilst undertaking any activity at our gardening sessions, volunteers are covered by Energy Garden’s liability insurance in case of accidents or emergencies.
